Tamara Anne Aquino, MA, LPC

I believe that the greatest gift I can give to people is presence. I am reminded that as each person comes to see me and finds that connection and care, they begin to be able to also find healing. I worked for many years as a Hospice Chaplain and witnessed that connection between families and friends as they came to face all encompassing death and grief together. I was able to join them in the hard places.… to remind them they were not alone. For many, those connections sustained them and provided comfort through the farewells.

These days, I continue to connect as a therapist with people of all ages during times that are challenging and overwhelming for them. My focus of therapy is centered on the needs of the people that come to me for help. I have often experienced that healing comes out of the wisdom gained from a person’s own life experiences. I find it a privilege to help people see those bits of wisdom bubbling up as they seek for change.

I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at our local University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX and received supervision and training in both EMDR and Play Therapy and various other therapeutic techniques. I work with people to help them find meaning in the midst of change through existential therapy. I utilize EMDR to help people get at their deeper wounds they haven’t fully processed. I connect with people through play therapy as a tool to bring in new and healthy experiences that allow for a lifting of the heaviness during healing. Through play therapy, EMDR or other therapeutic techniques/models, I hope clients find a connection between themselves, others, & their treasured environments that give them strength to persevere & find shelter on the path to healing. My hope is that connecting with you will help you to feel that you don’t have to be alone as you seek change and healing.
